The Picture House
The Picture House was purchased as a commercial property which comprised of an office & a flat. Downstairs there were 2 rooms & a shower room & upstairs a one bedroomed flat. After planning permission was granted, we moved the stairs from the middle of the building to the back & created an open planned house with 3 double bedrooms, one with an ensuite.

The original sash windows were totally refurbished & painted. Our greatest find was exposing a cellar which we had a glass hatch & walkway fitted, so when not in use can be lit up to make a very smart feature. We laid engineered oak flooring throughout downstairs & sea grass carpet upstairs, being a stone throw away from the beach it seemed the right product. A fully integrated Howdens kitchen was fitted with quartz worktop, featuring a waterfall island, the aim was to blend the kitchen in as much as possible. To make the most of the beautiful bays we had a bespoke seating area made to fit around a bespoke glass table, shaping it to fit the area increased the seating capacity.

Outside we had a gravel courtyard which was being used as a bin storage area, once it was fenced off & block paved, we turned it into a nice, secluded seating area with solar powered lights which create a soft ambiance in the evening.
We are delighted with the transformation of, ‘The Picture House’, not only did Chapel Properties renovate it but we designed it too… we were going for a different take on the seaside holiday lets, urban industrial downstairs to bold boutique upstairs, hopefully our guests will appreciate the quality & excellent location in Aldeburgh.
