The Bridewell

The Bridewell holds the prestigious title of being the oldest house in Woodbridge & we were delighted to be chosen to refurbish it so that it could stay within the family.

Being Grade II* listed as it dates back to the 16th Century, the two storey, half-timber, brick nogged & plastered house with brick plinth, has an overhanging first floor at the west end. Retaining four of its C16 centred arched window openings with carved spandrels & an arched entrance door.

Our clients chose quality materials & workmanship in order to be sympathetic to the house’s heritage. Chapel Properties not only carried out the internal refurbishment, along with the garden landscaping we also helped with the interior design of the bathrooms, wall colours, flooring & window dressings. Our clients chose a bespoke handmade kitchen made & fitted by Tom at Ashford & Brooks, they are a local company using traditional tools, the highest quality materials & craftmanship.

Phase 2 involving the exterior of the house will be carried out at a later date.
