St Johns Street

St. Johns, is a three storey, three bedroom Victorian end -terraced house which is Grade II listed. It needed fully modernising, roof repairs & the garden & parking needed landscaping.

Once the rotten plaster was removed from the walls & ceilings, we exposed beautiful brickwork which we left natural on the landing, 2nd staircase, 2 x chimney breasts & in a new shower room which we configured on the 1st floor.

The top floor had a bath & a hall leading to the bedroom which sapped all of the natural light & flow, we removed all of the walls to create a master suite, forming a separate cloakroom in the master ensuite, with a large walk-in rain shower, a free-standing bath & wall mounted sink. Accessorised with brass taps & gold marble effect tiles this was very much in keeping with the period of the house. The newly exposed chimney breast provides a partial divide going into the master bedroom. A new boiler system was fitted with traditional column radiators & all of the sash windows were refurbished & re- corded as we couldn’t replace them due to the grade II listing.

By restoring deep skirting boards , architraves & a beautiful cast iron fireplace we added the luxury & detail which had previously been stripped out. Finally slatted fencing & gates were erected to provide a private courtyard & a drive was laid of pea shingle & gravel grids to allow drainage but keep the drive tidy & stones in place. Once planted & dressed this courtyard blossomed into a truly delightful private space in the heart of Woodbridge with a small but grand feeling home to love & enjoy.
